Palladium Group is seeking a dynamic MERL Manager to join our team in Abuja, Nigeria. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to lead and oversee the monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning activities of our development programs, ensuring that interventions are impactful, evidence-based, and aligned with strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

As the MERL Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Intervention Monitoring & Data Collection: Lead the development and update of intervention guides, including results chains, monitoring plans, and support calculations. Oversee intervention monitoring and data collection to generate high-quality and timely data for reporting and decision-making.

  • Conducting Research & Surveys: Lead the conduct of intervention baseline and outcome surveys, market research, diagnostics, scoping studies, and Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) studies.

  • Performance Monitoring: Undertake frequent performance monitoring field visits and provide improvement feedback to the technical team on return.

  • Knowledge Management: Work closely with the Communications and Knowledge Management teams to ensure that successes and lessons from interventions are documented and disseminated to a broader audience.

  • Team Leadership: Manage, inspire, and support the MERL Specialist(s) to execute their roles and responsibilities effectively.

  • Adaptive Management: Synthesize evidence from data collection and surveys, providing regular feedback to intervention teams to support the adaptive management of the programme’s interventions.

Required Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A B.Sc or M.Sc Degree in a relevant discipline, including economics, geography, statistics, evaluation, agriculture, social sciences, or other related fields.

  • At least 5 years of MERL experience working with agricultural-related programmes similar to Propcom+. This experience can be a combination of MERL Manager and Specialist/Officer roles or solely MERL Specialist/Officer experience.

  • Experience implementing DCED standards in programmes.

  • Experience working in Northern agricultural markets or value chains.

  • Fluency in speaking and understanding Hausa is an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in using MS Excel, Power BI, and other data analysis tools.

  • Survey Design: Experience in developing surveys and data collection instruments using KoboToolbox.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Team Management: Ability to manage and support a team effectively, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment.
