Role Responsibilities

The Assistant Manager, EHS will:

Oversee and execute Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programmes for the Port Harcourt base and district operations
Ensure safe transport of personnel, equipment, and materials by land, marine, and air
Maintain compliance with local, national, and international EHS standards
Lead incident investigations, conduct risk assessments, and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage)
Minimum of 10 years of experience in base safety operations within the oil and gas sector
Membership in professional EHS bodies such as ISPON, NES, IOSH, COREN, MNSE, or IIRSM
NEBOSH International General Certificate
ISO 45001 and 14001 Lead Auditor certifications preferred; NEBOSH Diploma is an added advantage
Strong knowledge of Nigerian and international EHS regulations
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Core Competencies

Proficiency in developing and managing EHS policies and procedures
Expertise in hazard identification, risk assessment, and emergency response
Ability to engage effectively with internal teams, regulatory bodies, and contractors
Capability to monitor assets, manage transport safety, and deliver impactful training sessions

Major Responsibilities

Implement EHS policies and align them with standards and regulations
Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and apply corrective measures
Design and execute transport safety plans and monitor contractor performance
Deliver training, coordinate EHS meetings, and drive health and safety initiatives
Support audits and inspections across field and head office operations
