Role Responsibilities

The Assistant Manager, EHS will:

  • Oversee and execute Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programmes for the Port Harcourt base and district operations

  • Ensure safe transport of personnel, equipment, and materials by land, marine, and air

  • Maintain compliance with local, national, and international EHS standards

  • Lead incident investigations, conduct risk assessments, and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage)

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in base safety operations within the oil and gas sector

  • Membership in professional EHS bodies such as ISPON, NES, IOSH, COREN, MNSE, or IIRSM

  • NEBOSH International General Certificate

  • ISO 45001 and 14001 Lead Auditor certifications preferred; NEBOSH Diploma is an added advantage

  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian and international EHS regulations

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Core Competencies

  • Proficiency in developing and managing EHS policies and procedures

  • Expertise in hazard identification, risk assessment, and emergency response

  • Ability to engage effectively with internal teams, regulatory bodies, and contractors

  • Capability to monitor assets, manage transport safety, and deliver impactful training sessions

Major Responsibilities

  • Implement EHS policies and align them with standards and regulations

  • Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and apply corrective measures

  • Design and execute transport safety plans and monitor contractor performance

  • Deliver training, coordinate EHS meetings, and drive health and safety initiatives

  • Support audits and inspections across field and head office operations
