Key Responsibilities

As a VAS M&E Officer at Helen Keller International, your primary duties will include:

  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Develop and implement an integrated M&E plan for the Vitamin A Supplementation (VAS) project in collaboration with the VAS Program Manager and M&E Specialist.

  • Data Management: Establish systems for data collection, analysis, and reporting, ensuring timely and accurate information flow from service delivery points to the central database.

  • Capacity Building: Provide training and technical support to health facility staff and community workers in data collection, analysis, and reporting.

  • Quality Assurance: Manage the roll-out of the M&E data quality assurance system, including conducting quarterly data quality audits.

  • Reporting: Prepare regular monitoring reports, analyze data for impact evaluation, and identify areas for improvement in project implementation.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with state Ministry of Health M&E units, health facility staff, and other implementing partners to ensure effective program delivery.

  • Documentation: Document and disseminate best practices, lessons learned, and success stories from the VAS program.

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • Educational Background: A postgraduate degree in Statistics, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related field with a focus on monitoring and evaluation.

  • Experience: At least 4 years of hands-on experience in monitoring and evaluation within public health programs, particularly in nutrition and VAS initiatives in Nigeria.

  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Proficiency in data analysis software such as SPSS, STATA, Epi-Info, or DHIS2.

    • Strong analytical, presentation, and communication skills.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

    • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

    • Excellent interpersonal and multicultural team-building skills.
