About the Role

The OPEC Fund is seeking a highly skilled Accountant to join its Finance/Financial Controls department. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the Fund’s mission by ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial records in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounting: Maintain the Fund’s general ledger accounts, ensuring all financial transactions are reconciled and posted in conformity with applicable accounting principles and financial reporting standards.

  • Reporting: Prepare schedules, analysis, summaries, and reports in support of quarterly financial reports and as may be requested on an ad-hoc basis.

  • Monitoring and Review: Monitor financial postings and compliance, using as a reference the approved manuals, procedures, and guidelines of the accounting framework.

  • Recommendations: Develop suggestions and provide guidance on complex accounting, reporting, internal controls, and compensation matters that may not be fully addressed by existing standards or practices.

  • Stakeholder Management and Engagement: Work together with the Senior Accountant and other staff in the Accounting Function, as well as with other areas responsible for maintaining financial system sub-ledgers.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Educational Background: Master’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Financial Management, or a related field.

  • Professional Certification: A recognized accounting certification such as ACCA is an advantage.

  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience, with at least two (2) years in an international environment and/or international financial institution.

  • Technical Expertise: Proficient in executing operational tasks within SAP ERP, specifically in FI/CO and MM modules.

  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in English; a good working knowledge of Arabic, French, German, or Spanish is an added advantage.
