Job Summary

The Business Development Manager at Wema Bank is a full‑time, branch‑based role (e.g. Lagos – Ajeromi‑Ifelodun or Apapa). The primary objective? Maximize sales opportunities, achieve and exceed branch financial targets and foster cross‑selling within assigned products and customer segments

Core Responsibilities

1. Deposit Mobilization & Portfolio Management

  • Mobilize deposits and grow both retail and corporate account bases.

  • Manage branch portfolios and develop quality risk assets

2. Customer Acquisition & Relationship Building

  • Acquire new customers, nurture relationships, and ensure digital channel adoption.

  • Coordinate RM activities and drive month‑on‑month revenue growth

3. Cross-selling & Channel Deployment

  • Identify opportunities with Trade Finance, off‑balance sheet products, EFT, and virtual banking; coach team members on product knowledge

4. Risk & Data Governance

  • Maintain high‑quality branch data and proactively manage portfolio risk, in line with Wema’s policies

5. Financial & People Leadership

  • Monitor finances,, revenue, expenses, P&L, drive profitability and efficiency.

  • Coach, mentor, and upskill relationship officers and staff to meet performance goals

6. Service Culture & Expansion Strategy

  • Foster a stellar customer service culture, addressing complaints, and identifying new market opportunities for expansion

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc./HND) in any field; MBA or digital-marketing qualifications are advantageous

  • 12–15 years of relevant experience in sales, marketing, or distribution within banking .

  • Certification with CIBN preferred

  • Strong knowledge of credit administration, deposit & lending dynamics

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and strategic thinking skills.

  • Digital-savvy with a commitment to excellent customer experience
