2025/2026 NDDC Postgraduate Scholarship – Fully Funded Master’s Program for Niger Delta Indigenes

 

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has opened applications for its 2025/2026 Local Post-Graduate (Master’s Degree) Scholarship Programme, offering a life-changing opportunity for qualified indigenes of the Niger Delta region to pursue fully funded postgraduate studies in Nigeria.

This initiative continues the Commission’s commitment to developing human capital, boosting local content participation, and supporting young professionals in key fields that contribute to regional and national growth.

About the NDDC Scholarship

Since its inception, the NDDC Local Postgraduate Scholarship has empowered hundreds of deserving students from oil-producing communities in the Niger Delta. The program focuses on equipping them with world-class academic knowledge and technical skills, ultimately creating a globally competitive workforce that can contribute meaningfully to development.

This year’s edition is no different, targeting Nigerian universities, this fully funded master’s program provides tuition, stipends, and academic support for qualified applicants.

Available Disciplines

Applicants must have a first degree or HND/PGD in relevant fields from accredited institutions in Nigeria. The eligible disciplines include:

  •  Agricultural Sciences

  •  Architecture

  •  Engineering

  •  Environmental Sciences

  •  Geosciences

  •  Humanities

  •  Information Technology

  •  Law

  •  Management & Social Sciences

  •  Medical Sciences

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the 2025/2026 NDDC Postgraduate Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be indigenes of the Niger Delta Region (States include: Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo, Rivers, Abia)

  • Not be older than 40 years

  • Possess a First Class, Second Class Upper or Lower Degree, or HND with Upper Credit + PGD from a recognized Nigerian institution

  • Hold an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate

  • Secure admission into a Nigerian university for a Master’s program in one of the approved disciplines

Selection Process

The scholarship selection involves multiple transparent stages:

  1. Online Application through the NDDC portal

  2. Shortlisting based on WASSCE, degree classification, local government identification

  3. Computer-Based Test (CBT) at designated centers in Akwa Ibom, Delta, and Rivers

  4. Minimum CBT Score: Applicants must score at least 70%

  5. Oral Interview for high-performing candidates

  6. Final Verification by Local Government and Community Development Committees (CDCs)

Required Application Documents

Applicants must upload the following documents during registration:

  • A recent passport photograph

  • Local Government Identification Letter

  • Postgraduate admission letter from a Nigerian university

  • Academic certificates and transcripts

  • NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate
